1969: First Stock Car race, Cross in Hand, Sussex 1970: Started Banger racing with Promotosport Raceway International (P.R.I) 1972: 4th in National Points Championship, King of Crayford. 1973: 2nd in National Points, Kent Champion, Lydden Hill track Champion. 1974: Banger National Points Champion, 3rd in World Final, Iwade Points Champion. 1975: Retired from racing to concentrate on his growing business. 1980: Made brief comeback in a few meetings at Brands Hatch and Crayford. 1984: Saloon Stocks at Arena Essex but with no success. 1985: Sons Nigel and Jamie were racing in the Junior Bangers but these were dropped by P.R.I halfway through the year leaving the Steward yard full of unused Triumph 2500’s. This promted a return to banger racing towards the end of the year. 1986: 2nd in National Points Championship, Festival of Speed Champion. 1987: Banger National Points Champion, 3rd in World Final. 1988: Started National Hot Rod racing, debut was at Lydden Hill in February. 2nd Place in Arena Essex points, qualified for the World Final with a 9th place in the second semi-final at Hednesford. 1989: 2nd place Arena-Essex points, Festival of Speed Champion, 2nd place Supreme Championship. 1992: 2nd place National Hot Rod Points 1994: NHRPA Champion, Fastest in World Final Lap Times 1995: National Champion, 2nd place National Hot Rod points, 2nd place in World Final, Fastest in World Final Lap Times, Driver of the Year, Oval Racing Personality of the year. 1996: National Champion, British Champion. 1997: National Champion, Fastest in World Final lap times, Driver of the year. 1998: National Points Champion, 2nd place National Championship. 1999: 2nd place National Points Championship, Driver of the year. 2000: National Champion for the 4th time, British Champion. 2001: Driver of the Year, National Points Champion. WORLD CHAMPION. 2002: 3rd place National Hot Rod points, 13th place ASCAR Championship 2003 11th place ASCAR Championship |
